The secret to an healthy living, with less waste in your kitchen is meal prep, or meal preparation.
Meal prep is a trend term by now, and indicates a really smart method based on a very simple concept: to plan and prepare meals for the week in advance.
In practice, we organize ourselves on the weekend and from Monday to Friday everything is (almost) ready! For those like me who are always in a hurry, this organization is the turning point.
Just spend some time preparing the ingredients, perhaps over the weekend or a couple of hours at night, and you refurbish your fridge with meals that simply need to be assembled. The advantages are many:
- better shopping: whether you do it in the store or online;
- reduce food waste: you already know which ingredients you will need for the week, and avoid “forgotten ingredients” in the pantry or in the fridge waiting to be used, because with the meal prep you can include them in advance in your preparations;
- optimize time: in a couple of well-organized hours you can prepare lots of bases to use later in the week;
- eat healthier! Believe me: it’s easier for the whole family, if you have already washed fruit and vegetables, and good recipes to make in less time.
